Coastal Camp is getting ready for another amazing summer of exploration, fun, and learning! In our 10th summer, we decided it was time to do a little updating and we are excited to debut our new Coastal Camp website! We hope that you find it easy to navigate and full of helpful information.
We are also excited to announce new camp sessions! We are offering Headlands Habitat for campers grade 1-3 that focuses on the native plants and local animals that call the Headlands home. We’ll even get a visit from some live bird friends! We re-worked Call of the Wild to include more outdoor skill building such as using a compass, understanding a map, and building a basic shelter (don’t worry, no one actually sleeps in the shelter!).
For our more seasoned campers in grades 4-6, we are offering a week all about whales aptly named Whale Week! We’ll answer questions such as: what separates an Orca from a Humpback, how far do whales swim each year, and how long can they hold their breath? Grades 4-6 can also look forward to Guardians of the Gate, a camp all about the people who have made the Headlands what it is today including the lighthouse keeper, military, and National Park staff. Campers will learn what they can do to make a difference and protect the park for future generations.
Finally, for our Coastal Camp veterans in grades 7-9, EcoQuest will return with an added session focused solely on the ocean and bay. EcoQuest Sea features a kayaking trip on Richardson Bay and a visit to a real marine science laboratory in Tiburon.
We are really proud of what is to come in our 10th season of camp and we hope you and your camper join us!
